The taste of the bines is not as good as the old ones more to take away n more plastic spoons it makes pity
It's strange. I did not experience this experience, but you can always call before you move :)
This is a tremendous local favorite. The owner is gracious and accommodating and the rest of the servers are wonderful there is not a lot of seating but all the seats are terrific. The Ambiance is genuine and filled with term. The food is heartfelt and delicious. I enjoyed the blood sausage with eggs toast and beans otherwise known as Fab Soulard.
Wow. If you dont like beans its because you dint discover this place yet!!!
Great experience, modern facility
Slow seating and meal service. Meal was just ok. Beans are good at least!
Took forever to get our food, chicken sandwich was bland, no seasoning whatsoever and no taste at all. On top of that at the time of bill payment manager basically told us that service charge is not included and we have to tip ( he literally rudely asked us to tip them). In my opinion you tip for great good and service and in this case neither the food nor the service was nearly there. Not what I expected from this great looking restaurant. Very disappointed.
Great staff and great food. Have the grilled bread and the beans!!!
Good food, friendly staff. Felt family owned.
Amazing french-canadian breakfast experience! My boyfriend had the two eggs plate (with bacon, ham, sausage, bread, potatoes, fèves au lard and cretons) and I had the cheddar omelet (with maple smoked ham and old cheddar from Quebec, potatoes, bread and fèves au lard). Everything was delicious and we ended up very satisfied (we didn't have lunch this day even though we had breakfast at 9 am). The omelet had a lot of filling and it was very yummy. We also had their tourtière, which is AMAZING! And if you haven't tried their fèves au lard you are missing such a great opportunity, because they are very very good. It was my first time eating cretons and fèves au lard, and I cannot recommend a better place to someone who wants to try the most autentic Quebec food (and it is amazing!).Their prices are very decent and the service is great.
Cozy diner with good food & good atmosphere. Was served by the two owners who were very friendly and charming. Highly recommend their baked beans!
Holy s**t. It's like you're back in the 60s, right on Mont-Royal. I've never been to a place where the food was feeling as homemade. Service was nice and you feel anywhere between a log cabin and a sugar shack and home in there. Real beans, not goop. People keep pouring in to get some to go, be it hot or cold!Try to avoid rush hour, the space is very limited!Breakfast is very affordable and they'll even ask how you like your bacon.
A must for those seeking a traditional Quebecois experience. It looks like they moved just a block away or so, so they may have lost a bit of their old counter diner charm in their new place. Who knows? But I have to give them them 5 stars for their delicious devotion to the OG Quebecois food cause & ambiance. This place should be featured on every Andrew Zimmern/Anthony Bourdain type travel show & unfortunately hasn't been, thus far anyways. As for the food, I've only had their breakfast -- typical North American one with a Quebecois twist. But you can also tack onto your breakfast an original dish like tortiere for a couple extra bucks.
Simple and delicious food. Tastes like grandma's cooking. Looking at the menu I could come back to this place at least 5 times and not get bored of the menu. Everything is feels like typical Quebecoise food, not being a local I can't say for sure but it sure felt homely. The service was great and the restaurant's mood is very relaxed. I will try to go back before leaving the city.
Had breakfast here, was absolutely top notch. Cannot recommend the fevers au larde or the tortierre highly enough. It's a must visit if you want some Quebec cuisine.
Typically Quebec dinner. Correct food but not extraordinary. Nice environment and atmosphere, with amazing music. Good service. Affordable prices.
Super friendly staff. Great food!
Cool quaint little joint. Breakfast was a classic Quebec style comfort food wake up call. Had the Classic 2 eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Ham, potatoes, Beans pan fried in Lard (YUMMY), 2 toasts, Cretons and to top it all off a side dish of good old Tourtiere. I really enjoyed it and the experience. The owner was very nice and knew half the people in there by their first name. All in all I have to say I enjoyed it very much. 2 breakfasts with tip will set you back 35 - 40$ but it was worth it. Great joint and would definitely recommend. Place fits under 30 people so get there before 11:00 to make sure you don't wait long.
The historical original cute little place relocated to this newly renovated spacious, bright yet warm 'sugar shack in town'. Tasty, reasonable price, friendly staff, convienet location on St Denis Street. Highly 😊 Bon appétit !
Great classic diner feel, but with healthier 21st century options. The menu may change but it has the classic feel of A Norman Rockwell painting. I can't stress that enough. It has a community, neighborhood feel that is lost in this world of uniform chain restaurants.
Underwhelming. Maybe I ordered the wrongs things off the menu, but I was overall decently disappointed. Charging 8$ for a simple grilled cheese that was squished down, laid over a bed of romaine lettuce... really?Assiette Québécoise traditionnelle was disappointing. Apart from the tourtière, everything was bland. Poor portion of veggies, felt like they dropped the whole box of clove powder in the "stew". Bean soup and mash potatoes were decent. The beans are literally lard and beans, and tasted pretty nice. Also, they sprinkled a bunch of dried parsley on the plate, no comment. A bit overpriced in my opinion. Service was fine. Staff was friendly. Would go back to try out the breakfast but not for anything else.
I was a happy camper this morning there. Good breakfast, good service and great attitude from the staff besides wearing masks and visors. Kudos to them!
Excellent breakfast. Best beans ive had
I went there for a brunch on a Sunday. First thing I notice : no line up !! I don't know if it was normal but good news for us. I ordered a Benedictine. The taste is very good. Sauce is creamy. A very traditional and tasty brunch. I only gave 4 stars because :- we waited quite a long time before we got serve- the breads my friends and I got were burned and hard to eat.But I will definitely come back and ready to change my comments.
This quebecois restaurant is a gem in the middle of the Plateau! We had the traditional quebecois platter/sampler with pea soup, meatball ragu, mashed potatoes, tourtiere, veggies, beans with lard, pudding chomeaur, and coffee. Everything was good, but the tourtiere and beans were exquisite. The staff was so nice, that we felt like eating at a friend's house. We went there for a late Sunday dinner (8:30ish), so there was no wait. Do not miss this restaurant when you are in Montreal!
Venerable counter-serve offering regional favourites like baked beans & tourtière.
This is by far the best breakfast place in Montreal. Not only that but you can have lunch or even supper here. I cannot think of a more authentic Quebec place to eat. New location on St Denis is very nice and unique.
Quite a sad quality of breakfast food. The eggs benedict was practically hard-boiled and the english muffin old and stale. The potatoes and beans were tasteless while the bread was burnt.
Orders were forgotten, additional charges weren't explicitly stated and overall service wasn't amazing but the food was pretty good!
This was my first visit to their new location on Saint-Denis; it was wonderful. They've done an amazing job maintaining the feel of their former location with the added benefit of more space and new menu items - which include vegan options and cocktails. I'm looking forward to bringing my vegan friend and trying a Montreal Mule next visit!
Awesome service and delicious food. This is a very Quebequois diner where you can get amazing Poutine, meatballs and meat pie. It's quite small so you should almost make reservation when you go on a high season.
